In the event the University of Arkansas School of Medical Sciences does not claim a corpse offered to it as provided by state law, and if the identity of the corpse is unknown after following the procedures provided for under state law, or if the next of kin of the corpse cannot be identified after reasonable efforts to identify them have been made, or in the event the next of kin does not claim a corpse, the corpse shall be disposed of as provided hereafter.

    (b)

Unclaimed corpses shall be disposed of by cremating the body, unless the coroner or the county judge has been made aware prior to the time of ordering the cremation that the deceased specifically did not want to be cremated. Absent such knowledge coming to the attention of the coroner and/or the county judge, the county judge may enter an order for cremation of the unclaimed body at any time after the time limits provided herein.
