§ 22-40. Standards for roads developed by private person or firm.

  • Any road developed by a private person or firm which anticipates acceptance of such roads by the county for incorporation into the county road system will be required to meet the following standards:

    (1)

    The road bed will be a minimum of 26 feet wide.

    (2)

    A 60-foot right-of-way, calculated from the center of the road bed is required.

    (3)

    A minimum of five inches of SB-2 gravel compacted upon the road bed is required.

    (4)

    The road shall be hard surfaced with two inches of asphalt or a double chip seal meeting the standards set by the county judge.

    (5)

    Any drainage across the road right-of-way will be by either concrete, double wall plastic, or galvanized tile of such dimensions as deemed necessary by the county road department for the terrain adjacent to the particular road and contiguous area.

    (6)

    Sloped drainage ditches are required for each side of the road bed and are to be contoured to facilitate the flow of surface water resulting from rains.

    (7)

    After one year, if the road meets specifications, the road will be taken into the county system and maintained as is.
