§ 10-169. Authorization for sheriff to appoint person to serve and return summonses.

  • The county sheriff's office is required to expend a significant amount of time and effort in serving and making returns of civil summonses. In order for the sheriff to use his personnel more effectively, he should be allowed and authorized, but not required, to appoint a person or persons to serve and return civil summonses in cases selected by the sheriff. Therefore, this article being necessary for the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this article shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval.
